Therapy.

Therapy seeks to uncover our richer stories and truths, thereby allowing us to act from a place of trust and intuition, which ultimately enhances the meaningfulness of our lives. I believe therapy to be the ultimate act of self-compassion - a gift we can give ourselves that vibrates out into the world. Because healing doesn’t take place in isolation, I believe that the therapeutic relationship is a sacred tool towards understanding ourselves, how we relate to others, as well as how we move through the larger world around us.

Approach.

I believe in a collaborative, relational approach, consisting of an integration of Family Systems, Attachment Theory, Relational Gestalt and Feminist Theory, which strives to achieve an equitable and non-hierarchal relationship between therapist and client. Factors such as unconditional positive regard, non-judgment, compassion, sense of humor, and empathy are also foundational to the core of the therapeutic process. My goal is to provide a safe, brave space for you to explore and expand on the many feelings and experiences that arise. Throughout this process, we will move away from feelings of limitation, towards an experience of freedom and authenticity.

Philosophy.

Throughout the course of our lives, we often develop coping styles and learned behaviors in order to survive. Over time, what was once a way of resiliency and protection ends up preventing us from our own healing and growth. We end up feeling powerless and judgmental of ourselves, wondering why we can’t get unstuck from old patterns or fully enjoy our lives. In therapy, we can begin to uncover what is holding us back through awareness and emotional processing of our experiences, as well as by looking at the systems in which we live that might’ve influenced our need to defend or protect ourselves. Once we gain a deeper understanding of these experiences and narratives, we are better able to heal and make changes from a place of confidence, trust, and love, rather than fear and hopelessness. Being able to give meaning to our feelings is essential to the healing process, allowing us to remove obstacles more easily and experience an increase in feelings of power and self-agency in our lives.
